is it me or does it feel like it’s taking place in Latin America? i would be cool b/c latin america has plenty of geographical variety like swamps, jungles, mountains, volcanoes, beaches, etc.

    2. I’ve never been happier to know that a game isn’t releasing this year. We’re so back baby.

    3. I’m glad it’s coming out next year. Hopefully more development time helps. Having said that, I won’t be rushing to pick this up till I’ve seen more gameplay and reviews.

Finally a Pokémon game that looks to be semi-modern graphically, thank goodness. Please be good!!!

I just want to linger on that opening part for a little bit, because it’s really struck an emotional chord with me. First of all, we see that all of the illustrations represent each of the generations in what they depict AND their actual style, and that’s really apparent in the first two illustrations.

In the first picture we have a simple sketch-style drawing of Route 1 with a Pikachu, poking out of the forest and looking at us, almost as if inviting us on (what will end up becoming a great, long-spanning) adventure. (This is what got me, right in the heart).

We then move on to Generation 2, which shows us a coloured-in Johto, still somewhat of a sketch but with greater detail and colour. Then the illustrations become more coherent, detailed, and “artful” as we see the visual quality evolve, each highlighting all of the exciting additions they bring to the series.

But those first two drawings, man. I’m not a big reminiscer, I’m a fan of progress, but there’s something about this series that really gets me. I think it’s because Pokemon might be one of the strongest tethers to my childhood that seems to really be holding on strong (despite skipping Gens 3-5 oops), and I think I’m just really grateful for that. For all life’s changes, I can still run around catching Pikachus or whatever, and I think I find that, just, super comforting.

Anyway, I just wanted to state how well done I think that opening montage of illustrations was.

This actually looks really good. Glad to see its 2027, looks like they’ve learnt thier lesson after releasing SV in that state

    7. Sticking to stronger hardware and giving the developers time to release it in 2027 is going to do *wonders* for the game. Incredibly excited for this

    8. Excitedl, but cautiously. If its another game that has a 4 hour tutorial I’m not interested.

It’s nice to see a Pokémon game that looks more caught up graphically but having just beat BOTW for the first, so many of those locations could have been cut and pasted from it.

    10. LOOKIT THE POMERANIAN THERE IS NEGATIVE THOUGHT BETWEEN ITS EYES AAAAAAA

      Your honor I love him.

It’s releasing in 2027, which means the switch 2 doesn’t have a holiday title now.

Yeah, something big is coming this year.

    12. Scarlet/Violet looked like shit and had major framerate issues in the first trailer and as much as diehards want to deny it, it was not fixed. ‘Game footage not final’ for Pokemon games are rarely true. But this actually looks good and a 2027 releasedate is good.

    13. Aaaaand there is already “art” of the female protagonist and the starters… because of course there is.

    14. The better the graphics get, the weirder it is to have compressed ~8 bit sound effects coming out of the Pokemon’s mouths.

I’m going to stick my neck out here and say that I reckon Pikachu is going to be in the game.

What’s the grifting and juvenoia from the Pokemon experts gonna say about this game this time, I wonder?
