Hi! I got this case gifted, I like the design and used it without thinking twice because it was comfortable for me to hold and maybe could protect the console finish to avoid paint peeling.

Yesterday I took it off because I wondered if it could scratch my system and basically do to the console what I was actually trying to avoid.

Once I took it off it left some residue that it was a bit hard to remove (like some kind of sticky goo that maybe I forgot or didn't notice to clean when I opened it, since the case was brand-new and didn't expect stuff like that). Thankfully once removed it didn't leave any scratch in the console itself (at least, I don't remember having it any new scratch), so I proceeded to clean the internal plastic of the protective case itself.

Long story short, the internal plastic of the case did get scratched after I cleaned with water and soap, and now it looks a bit of mess like in the later photos (although in real-world it looks a bit worse that what the photos capture).

I don't really care about the looks of it in the inside, but I searched online and it seems that now those scratches/cloudy scuffs can act as a sandpaper to the finish of my console? The plastic itself feels smooth without any rough or hard part, so not sure how true that is, but I would like to know what kind of experience people had with this kind of cases.

It would be a shame to toss this case since I like the design and it is comfortable for me to hold, I'm very OCD with this stuff and every time I play with my console I keep thinking of washing my hands to avoid future paint peeling and the like. Thanks in advance for any info!

    1. Well, I don’t think it’ll scratch it.

However, if you want to be absolutely sure, put a skin on the console.

Then you can put whatever you want on it without worrying (too much) about the console.

You can get one that matches the console’s color or a transparent one. I recommend a matching one.
