Thinking of getting one of these, which one do you recommend? I used to have a regular 3DS XL that I sold like a decade ago, and never cared about the 3D feature.

N2dsxl, its lighter and thinner but the screens are the same size, and are you going to actually use the 3d feature? Top screen looks better too without the extra active layers IMO. Also better battery, not much but it is.
The 2DXL feels cheap, and the upper screen is extra floppy. It looks like a toy that someone attached a 2012 iPod touch to.
The 3DSXL feels firm, well made, and the screen is much more firm. I hate this term for handhelds, but it definitely feels more premium.
N2dsxl because it’s the same XL screens in a smaller frame. Also it has a cartridge slot cover. I think both of those things make it much more portable.
Well if you don’t care about about 3D your answer is an easy one
I have both, it depends on preference really. There isn’t a massive difference between them, 3D one is more luxury built, it’s heavier, louder and obviously has 3D, the 2ds is cheaper made, but lighter and comfortable to hold, doesn’t have 3D option. I don’t notice any difference in battery or performance, I feel the 3D one has slightly better display but not much
Is cost relevant to you? If not, the N3DS XL of course
