So…. battery is on the half with the buttons, literally on the back with the faceplate and 4 screws. If you’re worried about the battery, open it up and see if the battery is swollen. But the gap, that looks to be the top half being curved, but can’t diagnose well without seeing more pics of it, but I think it’s fine as long as it still functions.
Might suggest getting the charging port upgraded to USB so you can charge it just about anywhere. Pretty simple upgrade, just takes a little soldering to do.
Not sure about the battery. But if you’re asking if that gap between the top and bottom are suppose to be there. Yes, that is normal.
In terms of the charge port not working properly, it could be caused by several different things. You could try getting a charging dock, a new charger, or having the old port replaced.
