[Rumour] New Sony patent attaches smartphone to DualSense PS5 controller, enhancing games
Sony is testing a concept where a smartphone connects to the DualSense Wireless Controller to add extra inputs. Future PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 6 games could use it for touchscreen controls or as a second screen.
Having the map or something like that could be a fun gimmick. Even if it’s just a mirror and not necessarily attached to the contoller

Ah, so Sony is slowly rediscovering the DS/WiiU from first principles?

I like this, better than slapping an expensive screen on the controller which only a few games would use.

If you’ve ever used a modern smartphone to play games this way, then you’ve probably experienced the way it throws the weight balance off. I’m good.

Quite heavy no?

Because having a second screen worked well for Wii U.
Also the second screen function a few PS3 and early PS4 games used.

It would be such a hassle with the fit for different phones and cases. Better off having a separate attachable mini screen for it. But the weight of a phone on top of a controller while playing on my TV seems like it would feel cumbersome.

What they need to do is add back buttons for extra inputs. 6/10 fingers are not used for anything

Don’t have a smart watch now, won’t need one for the controller.
