Hey everyone, RogersBase here! Some of you may know me as that guy who gets way too excited for Smash trailers and I (like most of you) have been pretty obsessed with Pokopia over the last month. As a massive Smash Bros. fan and someone who's been struggling to figure out which Pokemon I'm backing for the roster for the eventual next game, I thought it would be fun to discuss whether or not we think there's any possibility of Ditto joining the roster.

I did a video breakdown of Ditto's potential moveset, which I linked above, but for those of you who don't have time to watch it, here were some of my ideas:

B: Stockpile/Spit Up or Transform (as long as you have a full PP Meter)

    Side-B: Rollout

Down-B: Roto-tiller (Make food to fill PP Meter)

    Up-B: Drifloon or Magnet Rise

Jab Combo: Rock Smash (similar to Villager's boxing gloves)

Forward-Smash: Cut (Projectile at full charge)

Down-Smash: Leafage (Place Tall Grass at max charge)

Up-Smash: Camoflague (Pop out of disguise to attack opponents)

PP Meter: Moves are stronger and faster when full, eat via Rototiller to refill (Ex. Instantly break shield with Rollout at Max PP/Longer recovery time in the air)

Final Smash: Transform Ditto uses its opponents moves against them unless it's another Ditto in which case…

Alt. Final Smash: Blasting Off Again Ditto stuffs the opposing Ditto into Team R's rocket ship and blasts them off into space.

Would love to hear everyone's thoughts!

    ~Roger

    1. Aye, RogersBase!

Imo, while it would be cool, I find it very unlikely.

They always go for a Pokémon from the latest generation during development. And while we have gotten multiple Pokémon newcomers before, I’m still not sure if it’d be Ditto specifically.

If they were to add another Gen 1 fighter, I’d be surprised if it wasn’t Eevee. That thing has been pushed a lot over the past few years to the point where it’s one of the biggest icons of the series.

The moveset does look cool though.

    2. lol and I don’t know why people are acting like this is a long shot, seems like something that will DEFINITELY happen and the move set writes itself.

As for smash, my hope is that they will simply re-release a definitive edition of Ultimate for the switch 2, with some new fighters/stages/modes and call it a day. It’d be hard to top ultimate and we don’t really need a new game, just some new toys to keep it fresh.

It’s highly unlikely there will even be another smash. The game reached peak with it’s last highly expensive licensed iteration, there isn’t really much more they could do with the franchise.

Eevee and Ditto seem like no brainers now. They have their “staple” Pokemon there and with the amount of Ditto versions sold as merch before Pokopia this just further expands the idea of Ditto being a main Pokemon in their franchise that they’ll use to cross over.

Ditto’s appeal really has infinite possibilities and I’m shocked it took them this long to put out something like Pokopia. It’s clearly going to be a franchise staple now and you can only build from here.

Add battling a foe and it’s a genre killer, don’t even need to be Pokemon it could be a dimensional shift that brings fiends over or whatever.

    5. If there’s a group of people that think Pauline as a chance at Smash, then this particular incarnation of Ditto could have a chance too.

Movesets based off “comfy games” have been incorporated with Villager and Steve, so it could be done here too.
