Watched it last night, knew what I was signing up for from the last film and set my expectations accordingly – enjoyed it just as much as the first.
Visually it was stunning and the animation was smooth, the score was amazing and allowed to breathe with a lot less commercial music hits and I was pleasantly surprised at >!how much screen-time Fox McCloud got!<. The script was a bit simple/safe but for me the characters still carried it a lot. It was a real love letter to Nintendo from start to finish.
That being said, just like the first one, I can absolutely understand why a movie critic who didn’t grow up with Nintendo couldn’t get into it, but we knew this wasn’t going to be a film for them – the film set out for a specific purpose and imo it achieved that.

Hopefully that means they have enough money to make a new Fox figure lol

As a Nintendo kid since the NES I had a blast with this movie! Was the plot paper thin? Sure, but it still had heart and laughs and a bunch of Nintendo references that brought me joy. Biggest improvement over the first is the music, it’s just fantastic and mostly all original Nintendo tracks vs. needle drops (but there are a few of those too).
