The plates are designed to be interchangable. The top plate is held in with clips and the bottom plate is held in with those 2 screws.
But…..I presume some type of plastic buffing compound might work. Might.

for my n3ds, I spent like a good few hours trying to polish the scratches on the faceplates off using a magic eraser… it did not work, id honestly just get new ones :p

You can either get replacement faceplates on AliExpress or get a sticker on Etsy. Or get your hands on reliable original faceplates since some of them are outrageously expensive 😂
