I can't imagine a use for this notes system that isn't already fulfilled by other note taking apps. How many of you have actually gotten a use out of these?
It’s helpful for our group on enshrouded. We play every few weeks and starting off remembering when we were doing is usually impossible so it’s nice to jot down stuff. I also used it heavily on blue prince.

Yes of course, why would I pull out obsidian when I can just shift tab and start writing down which item should I get back to.

I use it a lot, you can pin it on the game screen and set opacity

Oh, it’s very useful for Immersive Sims where you need to node down a code or some puzzle clue.

All of the time. Huge help to get a random creative thought out and written down quickly.
Edit: Also, Blue Prince

I use NOTES to document certain items in game I need to track. Most recently it’s where I document active/deprecated BF6 bot lobby codes. It also is where I document my “ToDo” lists in games, level up this gun, work on this challenge, you need to gather these materials etc. Next time I sit down to play, I reference that as a starting point if it’s been a while since I fired up any particular game.

You can use notes in the overlay. Helped me a lot while playing Satisfactory

Because each game has their own notes. It’s really freaking useful. Ever since its integration, it’s been a heavily used feature.

Why would you bother with a different note taking app when this one saves with the game data through Steam Cloud, can overlay on top of the game, and makes it available directly on the Steam Deck?

I listen to ASMR on my steam deck, and sometimes when I’m falling asleep I’ll have a good idea or a shitpost or something and I’ll write it down in there to post later

It’s fantastic for games like Factorio or others where a “to-do” list is actually very helpful. Once I’m far enough into a run, I have a rotating list of stuff to do, and it’s REAL nice having a reminder to not let my mines actually dry up and screw me.

I use it for Wizard101 lol. I have xp calculations, pets I still need to make, wizards I still have to level up, etc

It’s easier to write notes using a physical keyboard, rather than a touchscreen one.
Also, I don’t have to tab out to use notepad.

My notes hold all my GFWL keys that valve decided to delete.

I don’t think you fully understand this feature if you think it does nothing more than other note taking apps.
Most obvious is synchronization with your Steam account across devices and the fact that it’s per game.

Yes.
Depends on the game. For example, a game like Palia the nite feature is pretty much a must have for me. It would suck to have to alt tab every other minute to access the wiki, when I can just do it once and note down stuff.
It’s also extremely nice to write reminders down, if you don’t play the game until weeks later.
It’s also great for any game where you need to grind resources or farm weapons.

I was using it to mark down which caves I looted in crimson desert but now they had an update that checks them off on the map.

I had no clue it existed but thanks now im going to use it

Yep, I use it in stationeers for todo lists. Elite dangerous too, for when im chasing down specific materials for a blueprint or mode. The clock is also highly beneficial to keep me from being too irresponsible 😜
Seriously, try adjusting it to a non-intrusive size, setting the opacity to a non-intrusive level of visibility, and pinning it, rather than using another note app. Definitely has its place.

i used it for cs2 commands

I use it a lot, especially when I do achievement hunting. And It’s the other way around for me. I don’t see why I would need to open additional note taking apps for my gaming notes.
I can access my notes instantly without opening another app by pressing shift+tab or home button if I’m on controller. I can also pin it on top of the game so I don’t have to constantly open the steam overlay mid game.

Good for having notes across steam deck and pc

Yep. A lot. I’m noting things I then use in the game review.

I’ve used it for Starfield, to note planets I might want to build an outpost on.

All the time. Why would I want a separate app when it’s literally built into steam?
