I turned my 3DS on and it had a black screen. I waited for it to turn off and when it turned back on it said that it couldn't detect the SD card. So I took the SD card out and put it back in but now it doesn't want to turn on. I hope I didn't just mess it up or brick it because I'm trying my best to keep good care of it since this is my only 3DS

This happens sometimes with my 3ds where the power led is on but the screens are black. What I do is I remove the sd card, then the battery, and lastly I hold the power button for around 10 seconds. Put everything back together and hopefully it boots!
Otherwise you can try to boot into safe mode. Hold L + R + A + D-pad Up + Power simultaneously. Hopefully it boots into safemode and you can continue using your 3ds.
