It's clear, in a much more modest way due to the high pixel-per-inch resolution, but it does reflect light! Which is simply sensational, a feature that's rarely talked about on this console, but it makes a big difference when playing in sunlight. It's a shame that the bottom screen doesn't have the same technology (and yes, that is a technology, since regular LCDs can't reflect light and just get darker when exposed to sunlight…).

What do you think about that?
    Have you notice that yet?

    1. I just found out this thing exists 😮!
Why did they leave it out of the new generation consoles ?! I know I don’t carry my Switch around outside in the sun, but it could be handy !
Also, you did mention that it was done on a single screen in the 3DS, so was it applied in the 2DS which has only the same one LCD screen !?

    2. I thought you were being a goof but that is really cool. I wonder if the other versions have the reflective panels or if its only for the original 3DS

    3. LOL I was like “omg this is BLINDING me, how is it supposed to be nice???” then I realized it was about the top screen, I was looking to the bottom one 😭

Transflective screens are really nice outside.

My GBA, GBA-SP and OG DS Phat look insanely nice outside in ultra bright sunlight. 👍🏼

Never knew the OG 3DS had this in the top screen though
