I just wish they would make the rewards fair for all countries. When living in UK I got rewards through searches and gaming. In Portugal, I can only earn through searches and nothing from gaming and the few I can earn I can’t even redeem them for Xbox Gift cards.

Is this not a thing already? I was given the option when purchasing Crimson Desert a few weeks back, it converted my points directly into a discount. I didn’t have to redeem a reward or anything, it just used the points so I paid half price. It was a very pleasant surprise for me. At the time, I was not using any Insider builds, just the regular build most people are on.
I don’t know when they added this feature, but it’s nice to have.

I’ve been buying games with the points for a few years now…is this different than the toggle saying to use points?

From the article:
A change is coming to how Microsoft rewards points for those who play on Xbox consoles. The Xbox website was recently updated to say that players will soon be able to spend their reward points directly on the console.
The new system will work simply. Like any other payment method, players can choose to use their reward points when checking out on the Xbox Marketplace.
“Spending your points has never been easier. On your console, simply choose something you want from the Store and use your points at checkout,” the website notes. The fine print notes that the points cannot be used to redeem subscriptions. It is not clear when this new benefit will be available.
**Other Xbox Reward Opportunities**
Xbox Game Pass subscribers earn up to four times the points. Those who subscribe to the premium tier earn double points, and those who subscribe to the ultimate tier earn quadruple the points when playing and shopping. Players who earn up to 5,000 points will receive a $5 Xbox gift card.
The website also encourages players to look into the Xbox Mastercard to earn rewards even faster. Those who have the card will receive Microsoft Rewards benefits at level 2.

I was able to do this on my console when I bought Crimson Desert in March.
I had a little over 72,000 reward points and the payment methods included the option to use my rewards points at $70 for 70,000 reward points. The value was $10 = 10,000 pts and could only be done in denominations of $10. I selected the option and paid the remaining $6.99 balance with my card.

Worked smoothly.
