My buddy found me this ps5 online for 85$ that had been dropped. Functionality is 100% and for the most part damge is just cosmetic, although he did tell me the nvme slot is bent so no ssd upgarde for the moment. Is this possible to be repaired and was it worth the price ?

    1. It’s a good deal. But using it without the covers will eventually cause it to break. The case is designed to direct air in a specific way. Without the case there is incorrect pressure inside of the console.

With a 3D printer you can design a vent that moves the air over all the components

If it’s working otherwise, then yeah. May not have much resale value, but if you want a working PS5, $85 is pretty good. A used controller alone will run you about $30-50

I’d find a way to get the cover back on though. Airflow is going to be screwed otherwise.

    4. You could buy 3rd party shells, the dbrand one I believe is $75. Sucks to have to replace the shell for basically what you bought it for but it’s an option.

    5. You could contact Sony and see if they can sell you a new case, or could you buy another broken ps5 and swap out the case.

For the price you got it for it’s an absolute bargain. If it was me I’d unscrew the side panel, get it as straight as possible and use epoxy glue or putty to fix the break, then screw back on and get a set of cheap plates. Enjoy your new console OP.
