Starting today, Game Pass Ultimate drops from $29.99 to $22.99 a month. PC Game Pass will also drop from $16.49 to $13.99 a month. Prices may vary by region.

Beginning this year, future Call of Duty titles won’t join Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch. New Call of Duty games will be added to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass during the following holiday season (about a year later), while existing Call of Duty titles already in the library will continue to be available.

    2. Shit. Take out the Fortnite extras I don’t care about and drop it another $5 and I’ll be thrilled. Good start though

Any word on conversion ratios or if you already have some stacked Ultimate, will it extend?

Wow thank you Xbox, first good decision in years it feels like. Even if it’s just reverting an old one

    5. That was quick. Good call for me, don’t care about Call of Duty. If that remains the only difference, massively good decision from Xbox.

    6. Couldn’t be happier! As long as just CoD titles are affected at launch I’m OK with it 👍

    7. Well I’ll be. A major corporation actually lowered the price of a subscription a bit. $22.99 is still a bit much for a monthly subscription (especially since they don’t have a yearly option yet), but this is still a good start. Also putting new CoD games on Game Pass one year later is a smart move.

Very good move. Still get to keep all the past CODs (which most people prefer over the new ones) and get to save $84/year

‪What are the legal issues they have for people who pre-bought at a higher price for cod with day 1?‬

    10. Let’s go. This is huge. As someone who doesn’t give a shit about COD this is nice.

They probably saw a ton of people canceling gamepass when it hit $30 a month

    12. Solarflare_V9404 on

They definitely a lot had people cancel gamepass due to the increase. I said it before and I’ll say it again. It wasn’t like a Netflix situation, people who subscribe to gamepass are mostly plugged in users. I can’t believe some people were trying to act like oh it’s just a loud vocal minority on Reddit pissed about the increase.

They just don’t subscribe and forget like people who have Netflix or Disney plus, or use it as casually as a Disney plus subscriber. Especially like those grandpa and grandma who just have Disney plus for when the grandkids come over on the weekend.

Them raising it to 30 usd a month for ultimate was absolutely ridiculous. And trying to justify it with Fortnite plus, a game most people who use gamepass don’t play because live service games inherently go against what gamepass wants you to do, try different games. Was so infuriating.

    13. Thats a really interesting move. So that’s the price for COD? Huh. That’s a big margin of the game pass price tag actually, for that franchise alone.
This also gives some merit to the rumors late last year about Microsoft beginning to think it was a mistake to put COD on gamepass believing they could recoup its cost faster.

I was NOT expecting them to cut the price, much less by like 30%!

It’s a much better value proposition for everyone I think, if you only play CoD then get the game up front and you don’t have to pay for gamepass, and if you don’t care about CoD then you save like $80/yr

    15. CorruptedOps on

Okay great! I’m glad they committed on addressing the problem and focusing on implementing a solution

    16. DrunkLastKnight on

Now if they brought back redemptions for game pass through rewards that’d be uber cool

    17. appledanishcrumbs on

I do like lower prices. However, the only reason I was playing any Call of Duty games was because they were on Gamepass, so I guess CoD just lost a customer.

    18. As a Cod player it’s a bit of a shame to see it no longer come to gamepass, but if it means everyone else gets cheaper gamepass I suppose it’s a worthy trade off.

I only really play COD for zombies anyway and since next year is MW again I doubt I’d have played it anyway.

    19. rocketwidget on

Lol. Turns out $30/month is not a good deal, actually.

Source: I dropped GamePass after price hikes. Money better spent by going for deals/sales on the exact games I wanted, and I get to own them forever.

My jaw is on the floor. I knew it was likely to happen in some way, but I didn’t expect an across the board price decrease. Damn man.

    21. Thank you Xbox, now I really have no reason to keep paying for ultimate.

      Hallelujah

    22. Leather-Entry93 on

Love it! While I do like playing the CoD campaigns, but after the last couple travesty of games, I’m happy to wait lol

    23. therealknic21 on

Wow. Very tempting. I had unsubbed for a while but will definitely consider getting PC Game Pass again. W Xbox.

    24. Great_Space6263 on

Subs drop off must have been decent enough to pull off an adjustment. Maybe we should hold the line a bit longer and get it back down to where it was originally.

    25. Game Pass should work like phone plans where you have basic tiers and then add ons you can add IF YOU WANT.

I do not care about EA Play, Fortnite, Ubisoft, and COD stuff. I do want to play other first party games at launch. An option to have that and nothing more would reduce the price even further and be greatly appreciated.

    26. So a $7 in monthly savings for EVERYONE comes out to $84 a year total. Take that $84 and buy CoD if you want. Or just pocket it if you don’t. This is great for all.

    27. Follows-Jesus on

meh, no real difference to me, preferred Cod being included, but I will just buy it separately, its a dangerous precident (removing a first party game) we need to see how it plays out.

    28. iloovehugecock on

A step in the right direction but for many it’ll be too little too late. I cancelled when they insulted me by asking for £23.99 a month. They may as well have sucker punched me in the gob and asked me to thank them for it.

Once you cancel a subscription and go long enough without it, you often realise they you never needed it and don’t miss it. I’ve moved on. I bought other games. I had a PS5 and a Switch 2 and now I’m spending more time and money on those.

I might drop back in for a month or two at a time, but I’m unlikely to ever be a full time subscriber again.
