I've had my N3DSXL since launch and recently got it out of retirement. The battery was swollen so I had to get a replacement for it. I put the original Nintendo battery somewhere safe to take to my job because we have proper battery disposal here, but I totally forgot to. I found it the other day and it's completely flat again. (I wish I had a photo of it swollen but I don't, but here's a photo I just took of it flat). It's been maybe 2 months? When I tried the spin test before it spun like crazy, like it was so swollen it was lifting the back shell when I first took it out. Now, nothing when I try the spin test, as flat as the day it was born.

Any ideas? Is this usable? I'd love to preserve my OG battery if able, but more than willing to toss it still if it's not safe. It LOOKS fine, no leakage or anything. Thanks in advance!

This can be caused by the excess gases in the battery to leak out of the casing. DO NOT use that battery again as the integrity of the battery has been breached and will cause an explosion when charged

Don’t use it, the internal damage is still there even if it isn’t swollen anymore. If you use it it’ll swell up again and it’s a fire hazard

Nintendo sells official 3ds batteries still for $15. Not worth using a dangerous battery

    4. Yes, it will unswell, but that doesn’t mean the problem is gone.

My experience is they will swell back up real fast if you try to use them again. Don’t use a battery that has ever swollen up.

    5. I appreciate everyone’s feedback! I have an off brand replacement I’ve been using since I took this one out so definitely not going to try and reuse it given the information provided, I was just curious! Have a great week y’all

    6. It’s simple. Just take away the s, o, and n and switch the order and your battery will be well
