It generally happens when you buy gems that have different trade hold on them. For example, one trade hold ends on next week, one ends in 3 days and one doesn’t have trade hold. They don’t stack automatically once the trade hold ends.
You can still make booster pack from them. But to make a sack of gem or stack them normally, you need to trade them to a friend and then trade it back to yourself.
But again, it’s not really an issue unless you really need a sack of gem for some reason.
