My 3ds fell to the floor and the hinge exploded into pieces. I managed to stick them a little bit with glue but I don't know what to ask to repair, the hinge, the carcass, the r button.

    What should I do?

Edit: I superglued the hinge part, and it worked surprisingly well, but then it broke off again and a part of the shell too. what should I do?

Chances are if ur going to someone that fixes/ repairs a DS. They should know what needs fixing. Obv, get a price before you let them do the repair. If ur trying to fix it urself. Idk.

Looks like mainly you need the top plate of the bottom shell. Probably can find it on eBay. I think you can get a third party one on AliExpress, but not sure how good or not the fit will be.

Sorry this happened. Like a another commenter said, see if there are any businesses near you who can fix 3ds consoles.
Take it to them so they can see the damage and then ask for the repair price before you leave it. Make sure you can pay for them to fix it as in they aren’t going to take advantage of you by over charging you.
For you to fix this yourself, I don’t know how to tell you how to fix the hinges. Maybe check Ebay and Amazon for kits or Google how to fix the hinges or where you could possibly get replacement 3ds parts.
Hopefully other commentors will be more knowledgeable and will be able to give you some good advice on how to fix that hinge and where to get replacement parts.
Best of luck to you on getting that hinge fixed.

i’m pretty sure you can find someone to replace the shell for you and you should be good

    5. This break is unfortunately a very common issue with the original 3DS XL.

The proper way to fix this issue is to replace the bottom midframe of the system. And that requires a partial disassembly.

I recommend watching this video that displays the process.

If you’re (understandably) intimidated by the process, I highly suggest getting a hinged case for the system. The hinged hard case will act as a brace for the system so it will keep the top aligned and the ribbon cables intact.

    6. I don’t know the fix, but please at least stop using it until you find one. This is how my old 3DS XL kicked the bucket, top screen stopped working completely after a while.

Nintendo le añadió un espacio para ponerle una correa, pero a los manos de mantequilla parece no importarles

It’s a hell to change the shell, I hope you can find someone with experience and the tools needed

First off don’t hold it lile that; you are putting all the weight of the system on the remaining hinge

Either gets the parts to replace it yousrself (check guides on ifixit) or pay someone for the parts and the work

You are lucky this isn’t one of the “new” variants where all top part flex cables go theough that hinge (and are also harder to take appart)

Either super glue and never fold it again, or do a shell swap and risk breaking it like me, use oem parts if you shell swap tho some aftermarket parts dknt always fit correctly

Very fixable, the only issue is a lot of the non OEM shells are pretty poor quality, but there’s ways to get the OEM shells too. Something I fix a decent amount of

I don’t think that you are scared.. I think sad.. and you need to get a new shell.

      But just in case.

No need to be scared.. you are safe now. You got him good! That 3ds will know better than to mess with you again!

Omg mine broke in the same way in the exact same spot, luckily it broke off in one piece so we glued it back with special plastic glue, I’m unsure on how to fix it if the hinge shattered though. I saw a few comments on shell replacements but it seems a bit difficult if someone hasn’t done it before. You might want to just look up a few tutorials on replace the shells then see if you can do it yourself or maybe find someone who could do it for you.

    14. Thats the best case scenario on a break because it appears the ribbon cables are fine. At most youd need a new lower midframe and possibly a hinge if you lost any of it. It is an involved repair as it required disassembling the entire lower half. Where do you live? People may have suggestions if they are in the same area.

Just buy a shell replacement, don’t use it and and put it away VERY CAREFULLY in the meantime the new shell arrives. Then replace the shell.

looks like the hinge is busted, find a shell repair kit on ifixit for your model

It’s time to move on to emulators bro. OG hardware doesn’t last forever.

If you can’t replace the shell, DIwhy it and glue a metal angle to the back to stick it permanently in place and spray it with holy water to get the lords blessing that it stays that way 🙁

    20. Short term fix is do the glue thing again, I did it with tape, and buy one of those clear cases. They are quite tight and hold the hinges in place.
