My rubber grips were starting to peel, so I wanted a housing without them.
Whole thing took a lot longer than expected, but it was worth it. Hardest part was definitely getting the faceplate off, far more difficult than a standard controller.

I hope yours last longer than mine did after I did a shell swap. My left stick developed perpetual drift so I couldn’t use it in menus without replacing the stick itself. Ended up replacing it as I don’t have soldering skills.
