I can’t recall any reaction to the OLED model, but back when the original Switch had a red Mario variant, I remember there being comments wishing that it had a more Mario-themed design, rather than just being red.
Looking at that promo image, I wish that the Joy-Con grip also had a different colour. Maybe blue, to reflect Mario’s overalls? The Switch logo being replaced with Mario’s M could have been a cute touch, too.

That it looks cool and way cooler than the neon red. I would love to be able to buy them as stand alone back then, but if I remember right, you could only get them with the bundle in my country at least.
