I believe wise smart people should be involved in EVERY step now and always. don’t be a fucking dummy we are in a 3 or 4 way arms race to get AGI and ASI. if we don’t have good training and good people involved the alignment problem equals our doom.

This is a repost from literally the last 24 hours, but in 2018 AI was a much different concept than it was now. Gabe has probably given money to a dozen different tech projects we have no idea about now.
Chat GPT didn’t even hit the mainstream until late 2022, 5 years after this.
At the time it was seen as a way to synthesize large amounts of data quickly as a research tool, not as an Image generator or a chat bot the way we typically think of it now.
And I fucking hate AI, so I hate to even recognize the concept and theory behind it at the time
