my 3ds already had a very reduced battery life for some time, but since last year it wouldn't even stay on unless plugged in.
i had also noticed it was bloated and started searching for a way to replace it.
i found someone who could do it cheap but wanted to make sure i saved some of the stuff i had in there before giving it to him. is that INSANLY risky or can i still turn it on for just a few minutes without worrying?
it's so bloated that i can literally read what's on the battery without removing the back panel, i'm SCARED, i HAVE to plug it in to turn it on so i can't even reduce the risk..

Do not turn this on or charge it anymore

      Dispose of it safely

You can do that yourself, the only thing you need is a correct screwdriver you can find those in a hardware store

    2. I would get rid of the battery asap, swapping it will not delete any data

First off, don’t turn it on with that battery inside. Remove it before it leaks or explodes. If you’re afraid, go to your local phone repair shop, they should be able to help you.
