The character designs are getting a ton of flak but the way I see it, they wanted the game’s environments and tech to be realistic. So the characters need to be realistic to fit in that world, that’s just art direction.
If they went with the Mario galaxy design which was great, the entire rest of the visuals of the game would have to match that visual style. It would have also been great also, but not what they planned.

I both love and hate this new (old) aesthetic. The more I think about it the more it evokes the designs on promotional materials for the original snes game.

Looks shitty
Edit: keep em coming, furries. Character designs in this game look like hot shit, and your toxic positivity ain’t changing anyone’s mind that thinks that.

I fuckin love this. It’s a happy direction away from the sterilized, soulless aesthetic so many games have these days.

It’s interesting to see the actual size of the Arwing compared to a character. I don’t think that we’ve seen this sort of actual scaling or if we have it’s rare. I always got the impression that the Arwings were much smaller than this.

I think we can at least say the Arwing touch ups are solid. I really like how each character seemingly has their own extra marks on them, such as the blue feathers on falco’s
Would be really cool if we could stylized them

The detail on the Arwing is top notch! Very Gundam-esque.

I love it! I’m glad they brought back the mecanic legs, the boots in the movie were not doing it for me.
On a parallel thought, I wish Nintendo called Wes Anderson to make Fantastic Star Fox in stop motion as their next feature movie.

I would love the option to customise and upgrade the Arwing.

This Arwing is quite a bit bigger than its depiction in Star Fox Adventures.

Really hoping that this remake stirs interest in the series again and we get a proper new entry

No even metal boots?

I guess it looks ok when you look at it like that

Fox and Peppy’s feet are still weird. You figure a bipedal creature like that would have bigger feet to support them better. Falco’s I understand as he probably has lighter bones and his feet look stable enough

I hate the feet that’s really my only issue

Are we getting Arwing Amiibo(s)? I would love a large sized one.

This looks sweet, I am enjoying the graphical update. Hopefully this team does well and makes an actual sequel that doesn’t suck

I love how massive Arwings look now. They look like actual fighter jets, not toy ships
