For some context, I recently found my 3ds after not touching it for years. I bought a new charger and have switched outlets and everything, but the flashing red light won’t go away and it won’t charge. Is the charging port itself broken? I’m not sure what that would look like. If not, are there other possible fixes?

The left contact is broken off. (Visably)
Reckon you won’t land a solid connection without it.
If you want a simple fix, get a charging dock. It’ll charge using the contacts either side of the charging port, so you won’t actually have to fix it. Just costs a few bucks:
