    1. Haven;t watched yet, but i really hope they don’t make any more vague PS4 comparisons when they were mostly wrong about it given the vastly different generation the Switch 2 SoC is compared to the PS4. There’s simply things, a lot of it, Switch 2 can do PS4 can’t.

Is DF a full on podcast now? They barely do video productions anymore, it’s all just endless chatter. We used to get a carefully edited 10-15 min videos every day or every other day. Now I gotta watch like an hour-long video to get the same info? Even DF is getting enshittified.

    3. I had to sell mine because of bills. I got it around launch time, and I love it. Everything is an improvement over the first Switch. Even the Nintendo Store is better and faster. There are limitations and drawbacks, but overall, it’s been great. I didn’t care for the limited amount of launch titles and as nice as Bananaza was, it wasn’t Breath of the Wild or Odyssey.

I think the first party games for the switch 1s first year were significantly stronger, but It’s hard to compete with that. Brand new 3D zelda, 3D Mario, Xenoblade, Splatoon, and a definitive Mario Kart port. I would argue it had the strongest first year of any console in history.

But If I’m not comparing it to that, it still felt like a good year and it was definitely worth getting. I love my time with donkey Kong and Mario kart, But my favorite moments were honestly third party stuff, especially silk song.

Really took me by surprise with all this AAA support from Capcom, Square Enix, From Software, and CD Projekt Red of all people.

Been a great system since day one, decided to get the pro controller for it.

    6. For me right now it’s an underwhelming hardware with an underwhelming software (first partywise) lineup, the latter can be fortunately fixed in the future. Just holding to mine right now due to price hike lol

I need that FE asap Nintendo please

I just want more 3rd party games with performance options.

Im happy with the output, outside of silent hill and some indie games all the big ones i care about are coming.

I just wish more offered 40fps
Performance modes. I get 60 is too hard for many but 40 should be reasonable when many of the games are targeting 108”

    8. Mario Kart world dlc, borderlands 4, Elden ring and doom dark ages within the first year would have been really awesome. I guess the second year will
be really packed. The bigger question is what will Nintendo first party do?

As someone who has been gaming since the original NES, the Switch 2 is the first Nintendo console to become my main gaming console since the Super Nintendo back in the 1990’s.

As someone who only uses Switch for Nintendo games and the odd 3rd party, it’s been….decent.

BanaNza and Pokopia were the only standouts for me, though I played Mario Galaxy for the first time with the remaster, and that was great. I also enjoyed ZA.

Yoshi, air riders and Hyrule Warriors are just too expensive for what they are. I am looking forward to Star Fox, Splatoon raiders and Fire Emblem.

I am hoping for a big AAA flagship title over the holidays

As a dad of 2 I almost exclusively play my switch 2 now when time allows. I love it

    12. There’s still nothing compelling enough for me to make the leap from the Switch 1. But, as someone who’s waiting until 2022 to buy the OLED model, I’m in no rush and will wait for the game library to grow.

The fact we’re getting games that are punching above Xbox Series S in many ways on 10wh of power or less is still an amazing feat.

Games like Pragmata and Resident Evil Requiem look very comparable to the other consoles with compromises that make sense without outright altering the visual and gameplay experience.

    14. Vargavintern on

Some times I actually forget that Switch 2 is a thing. And I was all over the first Switch, but somehow the hype for the sequel died out fast for me after release.

    15. fuzzy_muskox on

I agree with the video about the backwards compatibility, it runs switch 1 games so much better and it’s awesome to see nintendo embrace that. It is the most exciting part about the console for me. The switch 1 is already so great we didn’t need new gimmicks, we just needed a more powerful switch 1. And nintendo delivered on that i think.

    16. I am happy with my purchase and sadly we are in a world where older hardwares get pricier with time

Could the switch 2 benefit from slightly more performance (newer sdk, dlss etc) ? Sure

Could the first party line up be better ? Of course

Nevertheless it’s a good first year and hopefully it will get much better with first party that are truly native and take fully advantage of the S2, right now no Nintendo games use DLSS, only FSR 1.0,..

Want one after more first party games that I am interested are released. Until then loving my Switch 1 Splatoon OLED.

    18. After 1 year the only benefit my Switch 2 has had over Switch 1 is playing Fire Emblrm Warriors Three Hopes and Xenoblade X at 60fps.

      Mario Kart World was bad.

Donkey Kong got boring after awhile.

Not really interested in playing $60 for a Yoshi game and Metroid did not do well.

Switch 2 has basically just been my beat em up player and RPGs

    19. Switch’s Year 1 set up a near impossible follow up. The situation is kinda reversed: Switch 2 is getting 3rd party support first hand, while 1st party games are still cooking. I have a gut feeling they’re gonna throw out some big games in the next Direct, but at the same time I *DON’T think 3D Mario might be coming this year. *meant to put don’t here.

I own a PS5 and a Switch 2, and while there have been lots of fantastic PS5 games over the last year, I’ve played the Switch 2 way more. Maybe it’s a bit thin on the first-party exclusives front, but the library is already full of amazing games, a lot of which I probably wouldn’t have played if I didn’t have the chance to do so on a handheld.

    21. First-party support has been weaker than we expected. Mario Kart World was good (nothing more, to be honest) and Donkey Kong Bananza was fun. Pokopia I’ve heard good things about, but apart from that it’s been fairly lacking.

That said, we know there’s stuff coming- Star Fox out in a few weeks, Splatoon Raiders out next month, Fire Emblem not long away. The Ocarina of Time remake will probably be out in time for Christmas, then Pokémon and likely a 3D Mario game out next year. So there’s definitely stuff coming. It’s not like the Wii U where you needed a mid-spec crystal ball to figure out whether to expect any new releases that month and figure out what they were.

The third-party support so far has been very, very promising. Ubisoft and Square Enix are clearly big fans, and I’m convinced Capcom snuggles up to their Switch 2 dev kit in bed at night. Games like Pragmata, Resident Evil and Final Fantasy are big votes of confidence, and they all run well. I know Call of Duty isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I hope that succeeds on Switch 2 as well.

Overall I’d give it a very solid 7.5/10 for its first year.

    22. ByronicWerther on

Nintendo needs to Switch 2 more first party games. I don’t need $10 upgrades for everything but games that can should be running at 4K/60.

    23. MayhemMessiah on

I love the machine but the first party library leaves a lot to be desired. Tomodachi has been a standout, and controversially I really enjoyed Metroid Prime, but I did not like World nearly as much as 8. Still need to get Bananza at some point. Probably not buying Star Fox because I’ve played that game too many times and I don’t love it nearly as much as I love Ocarina of Time.

Third party support has been great, and I’m even thinking of getting Street Fighter 6 on Switch because it doesn’t run very well on my PC.

Generally happy with it but I think it’s really weak in first party right now.

    24. First year game line up was weaker than I anticipated, but I have a feeling year 2 will be a much stronger line up. Regardless, I love the console so far. My only complain is handheld battery life, but for now, I have a portable battery pack I can use with it.

    25. SupremelyPerfect on

Its excellent, I have 20 Switch 2 games now, main console for the foreseeable future. That hybrid flexibility is a necessity if you’re busy & still want to play something.

    26. Plenty-Entry5540 on

The reason Switch 1 had a such good 1st year was because it was built on the corpse of the Wii U.

Botw and Mk8D were straight up ports. Splatoon 2 was basically Splatoon 1.5. Fire emblem warriors and Pokken were also ports. The only original stuff it got was Arms, Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade 2 ( two of which are pretty niche games).

Switch 2 did not have that advantage. Still We got a brand new Mario Kart, DK 3D platformer and Pokemon Pokopia and few niche games like Kirby Sir riders and yoshi. I’d say it has been a good first 1st year for switch 2.

    27. YarrrImAPirate on

While I’m glad I got it because of the current state of the economy, I do feel like Nintendo is in its “PS3 you’re gonna buy it no matter what” era. I got it thinking Duskbloods would be out by now but we haven’t heard anything yet and we’re halfway through the year.

    28. GoldenAgeGamer72 on

For those asking for a new Odyssey, please no. That game is a very generic Mario and honesty arguably the worst 3D Mario, only ahead of SMG2.

    29. Short-Moose-4913 on

I really cant agree with anyone saying the switch 1 had a better lineup in year one. Third party support was extremely scarce while the Switch 2 launched with the entire Switch Roster backwards compatible. BOTW rocked, but then it was months before an actual new game was worth buying, 1st party or otherwise.

    30. Why do I care what some random YouTube has to say about the first year of the switch 2? Oh yeah I don’t
