Knockout Tour is seriously one of funnest things I’ve ever experienced in gaming. But I stopped playing months ago cos got sick of the same 8 rallies.
What’s stopping Nintendo from just doing custom or even randomized rallies across the map? All the connections between each course are already coded, so couldn’t they crank this out in a moderately productive afternoon?

Yes I think they will. People forget the massive wait from MK8 and the end product compared to the beginning. It looks like it has the infrastructure for all kinds of uploadable track customizations and obstacles. Will probably just take awhile.

On the contrary side I stand. I feel like Knockout Tour in itself is a great mode to encourage people to try out routes, and a greater showcase of unique scenarios and routes that shouldn’t connect but do. But I do think that it would be amazing if players were given the chance to create their own path for a custom Knockout Tour, making for a cool twist and surprise element.

This will sound super minor in the grand scheme but I really wish they would let you start the knockout tours and time trials for each of the courses from free roam mode by driving there. Would make it feel like the mode was an actual portal to the main game.
For real we need some more kind of granular control of what kind of lobbies we want to be in, because it feels like a good 70% of the game are these back road courses you are only going to see in online play and yet almost every online lobby is filled to the brim with people who petulantly and stubbornly refuse to engage with it and will mass select any option that will put you on a standard three lap race

I’m hoping that eventually we’ll be able to create Knockout Tour Routes. That’d be a cool new feature that can keep things fresh, maybe even a Knockout Route Roulette.

It should be so easy to implement a properly randomized knockout tour, to the point I thought at first it did that.
Why we don’t have a “VS Knockout” is beyond me. Just let people pick 6 tracks connected like the regular knockout tours and boom.
