No Idea what most of you even like or what you expected.

I for one I am beyond pleased from everything revealed in the last couple of days. This direct made it even better.

I expected Fortune's Weave and Splatoon Radiers…but all 3 Xenoblades with extra features? A new Xenoblade?! FREKING KH 4?! AND FINALLY THE OoT REMAKE?! Lets go!

And the new Castlevania, new Spyro and FF7 Part 3 will be coming as well to Switch2 even if they didn't show them in this direct.

(Also including Persona 6 which I purposely did not mention in this meme)

    1. It was okay. Cool games here and there but it needed a bit more variety in terms of games to be absolutely amazing.

Also, the fact they skipped the february direct gave this more expectations that it was never gonna fulfill for most people

    2. That direct was not even close to what I’d consider “amazing” but I’m glad you liked it. Considering how long it’s been since the last direct and how long this one was today I felt there were only like 4-5 actual solid announcements and then a whole bunch of random filler titles

I love RPGs, so this was great. Honestly that’s really it. If you like RPGs, then this was a good direct. Otherwise, there’s probably not much. I am especially excited about Fortune’s Weave.

    4. It was okay

Even the leaked OoT announcement was so freaking conservative

THATS ALL YOU SHOW OF A REMAKE

Lacking 2027 1st party announcements is such a hype killer

    5. I love JRPGs and Xenoblade is my favourite series so this was a perfect direct for me. KH, Metaphor, DMC5, and Lies of P getting Switch 2 ports is an added bonus.

    6. It was fine to good but including updated switch 2 versions of games and saying “not even counting” third party games that will run better on other systems feels like a slight bit coping. It went from disappointment to cool with the last two trailers though. Overall an elite SGF week though the other presentations were incredible

I was telling some friends on Discord that this was the archetypical “JRPG McPopular Dude vs. Scrimblo Blimblo the Loveable Skronkle” Direct in both its content and people’s reactions to it.

      Fuck yeah it was amazing!

Let them the babies cry, we all know their fomo will lead them to every preorder regardless of their “outrage”

    9. The thing is, Xenoblade trilogy for switch 2 is just enhanced versions of old games, and the S2 version of XCX wasn’t well received so it’s cause for concern.

KH4 was first announced 4 years ago, and as I have other consoles, it coming to Switch 2 does nothing for me.

Excited about Fortune’s Weave, but we’ve known for a while. Splatoon Raiders too.

I truly do not care about OoT if they don’t have anything to show other than new graphics, as I’ve already beaten it on three systems at this point. And since they’ve shown nothing, it’s hard to get excited.

I didn’t expect Smash 6 or a 3D Mario, but I did expect something newer, like maybe a new Kirby or Punch-Out!!, or maybe a new IP.

It’s a bit disappointing to me that the big Holiday game and Nintendo’s answer to GTA 6 is Ocarina of Time.

I think it was a much better direct if the switch 2 is your only console.

i didnt hate it but it felt a bit underwhelming especially after the 9 month wait from the last direct.

    11. For me, it was such a long gap between directs that I built up this idea in my head that this would be some super direct that was just reveal after reveal of tons of these new games. That’s obviously not what happened. It was just an average direct. I guess if you are a big rpg fan this direct was awesome, but I was just expecting to see a bunch of new stuff rather than things we already knew about.

    12. literally_rika on

I really don’t get why some people didn’t like this direct. Just because it gave love to some of the lesser appreciated franchise’s which some Nintendo ‘fans’ pretend don’t exist

    13. TheKraige01 on

For real. I jumped on here (whilst waiting for my 2 demos and a DLC released right now to download) to see how excited all the other Nintendo fans are and every one’s saying it wasn’t enough. Like Xbox and PlayStation have to wait months for their exclusives and I’m about to play a new Xenoblade DLC right now. What were people expecting?

    14. Whole_Yak_2547 on

To me problem is not that there’s not enough 1st party but it’s how they announce them like half where either announced then went under a dry spell, or randomly posted through the today app or just on twitter

    15. I will say it was interesting not seeing anything about a new 3D Mario. Maybe next year?

    16. XenderTheSlayer on

I’m happy for everyone who got their game they wanted for the presentation.

This direct felt underwhelming, very disappointing for me.

A lot of games are either : remasters, little remakes or games that we already saw from the other direct that Sony, Xbox and the SGF showed us, or from Nintendo itself from like some months ago.

Almost no new actual new products. The exceptions are :
      – KH4 (great news, after almost 20 years so that’s good)
      – Dragon’s Dogma 2 DLC (I don’t think we heard anything about it before)
      – Ninjala 2 (that became a BotW-like Open World for some reason)
      – Pikuniku 2
      – Xenoblade Genesis (and some JRPG news)
      – Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, that a lot of people seems to enjoy but don’t realise that it’s the same game as the first one but with 5 or 6 more sports. Which means they could (and should have) released it in a DLC.
      – Hello Kitty Party Land (I am pretty sure almost everyone forgot about it)
      – Ocarina of Time remake (but we got no gameplay yet ; it might be for a potential Zelda Direct + it got kinda leaked )

And it’s not that the game they showed are bad, no, not at all. But it’s just that we already saw most of them and we know them enough, so we don’t need to spend so much time with those. It’s time consuming and it’s in my opinion spoiling some things of the game for no reason. Just show us what it looks like, we don’t need a long 5-10 minutes explanation, especially for games that don’t really need a specific explanation because of the very casual gameplay like Nintendo Switch Sports Resort.

They should have show most of the trailer of the already known games more quickly, almost like they did near the end. We got some amazing news, but that doesn’t hide the bad things : for a hour long direct, it was not great.

To precise, I’m more disappointed at the presentation (which was an hour long) than the games itself. I listed 8 games in my “exceptions”, but it’s 8 among 26 games presented in a presentation that lasted for an hour. And I don’t we got any other system seller yet (except Mario Kart World, but it was last year). Hopefully Ocarina of Time is if it’s a remake at a similar level as Final Fantasy 7 Remake

    17. FlaconDeProut on

My only complains comes to the leak. We’re getting spoil three or four month BEFORE the direct and I wasn’t asking to see the leak bruh

    18. cwbrowning3 on

Theres no denying, there were A LOT of ports, RPGs, obscure games, and bits of news on games we knew about already.

One’s opinion of this direct heavily hinges on personal taste more than most. For people that are only really here for the well-known IPs, there was very little to like here. The headliner game is another remake with very little shown of it, and what was shown is a bit controversially.

Personally, I was incredibly bored through 95% of it.

    19. Bro you have to remember, people on reddit are some of the most miserable people on the planet.
