I put this list together from countless hidden gem YouTube videos, reviews and trawling online databases of Wii and Wii U games. There are 143 games in total, which I curated to provide an eclectic range of gameplay across both libraries. There are some notable absences here – Wii Sports, MK Wii and other prominent titles like SMG2, NSMB, Rayman Origins and Donkey Kong Country Returns – which I omitted because they had counterparts (such as sequels on the Wii U) I judged as the superior option. I tried to eliminate redundancy while including a broad spectrum of gaming experiences. There are also games I found while making this list that I had never or seldom heard people talking about or were condemned which I found in fact to be solid and unique titles.
The process of making this list of Wii and Wii U suggestions has been fun but also a grind; the YouTube archive on Wii games is pretty deep to say the least. This list is intended to condense hours of information into a straightforward resource for anyone wanting a good (in my opinion) inventory of games to play, including some obscure and deep cuts that took me a while to dig up. I don't want to suggest this list is comprehensive as it seems there is an endless supply of games for the platforms (I have already revised this list numerous times), and in truth I have yet to play many of these, but based on the reception and sentiments towards the games and gameplay I've seen online or played myself I would recommend them.
I will post a comment below with some notable omissions for each platform in case you want to see some other games which I chose not to include – if there are any glaring oversights I have made or just some more I missed then let me know. I do recommend checking out the gameplay and reviews of any of these you are curious about to get a gauge of whether you are more inclined towards them than I have been.
