That’s gonna be a really tough sell in the beginning especially after rendering physical obsolete; interested to see how it plays out whether or not I decide to eventually go for it.

The thing is I kinda want to enjoy my games on the TV, sitting comfortably one the couch.

    3. They’re talking about a handheld. PC is already doing that, they’re not aiming to re-invent the wheel with the PS6. And if they’re talking about a dock, then Nintendo is already doing that as well. If they got some secret way of playing games up their sleeve that isn’t available anywhere else, then by all means, surprise us.

I don’t give a fuck about enjoying a PlayStation beyond the living room. Beyond gaming for that matter.

    5. Narrator: “And they didn’t”

These companies need to accept the fact these are a convenient way to play games for people nothing more. They need to stop trying to make these do everything devices. That’s not what the consumer wants

    6. Yes, and Concord is your Star Wars-level IP and Bungie was worth billions.

It’s such a non statement really… “We will offer unique experiences” yada yada

Still interested to see if they do that PS6 handheld as I just want to know the power + what features it would have

    8. Pass. Reverse the terrible anti consumer decisions or PS6 is dead on arrival.

If digital is the only choice I might as well invest in a PC I can upgrade later.

    9. Count me out. The PS5 pro will be my last console. Now my kids on the other hand…

    10. If next gen is anything like current gen, you wouldnt need to get a PS6 until like year 3 as all games years 1-3 would be cross gen.

    11. >”PlayStation has long been strongly associated with the idea of playing in the living room. However, in recent years, more users globally have been using personal monitors. In response, we are selling peripherals such as monitors and speakers to break away from the fixed perception that ‘PlayStation equals the living room’ and to broaden usage scenarios,” they said. **“For the next-generation platform, rather than simply serving as an alternative to PCs, we aim to deliver value that is unique to PlayStation. This includes not only technological advancements but also an expansion of usage styles, enabling a seamless experience that can be enjoyed naturally beyond the living room.”**

And in preparation of the expansion we decided to do the opposite and cut off one of the few advantages consoles had over PC…

      What a ridiculous mindset.

    12. What I’m reading:
“TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, Call of Duty, Call of Duty, Call of Duty, Call of Duty, Call of Duty, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, TV, Playstation is about to become to next water cooler”.

I don’t want a damn handheld (got burned by the VITA before), and when I do handheld, it’s Switch & Nintendo. They should focus on their core product that made them successful and stop licking their lips and trying to emulate what has worked for other companies.

One, wtf does “usage style” even mean? Is it the good old “moving beyond the living room” goal the industry chased for over a decade? And wtf is “seamless experience”, some vague mambo jumbo for the purpose of “if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit?” And in what universe are consoles won’t “simply compete with pcs” when modern consoles use pc-like x86 architecture and compete directly for the same multi-platform games?

    15. I’m just going to grab an extra PS5 disk drive to keep my physical PS4-5 games working as I focus on PC and Nintendo.

    16. deepfuckingbagholder on

I guess a PlayStation Switch wouldn’t work with physical discs.

I mean you cannot compete? you are a locked down ecosystem.

It used to be you didn’t mind cause hey its a lot cheaper, but now you will have what looks to be a 1k+ system, a locked down shop that might not even get good discounts, and games cost more already not to mention having to pay to play online which has only gone up year after year.

Tell me again why I would want PS6 or the handheld? games have been worse for the ps5 than they were ps4 and there are far fewer of them.
