Jason Scherier: ZeniMax will NOT be reduced to only Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, despite rumors. The publisher will also still work on Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake.
The focus on Fallout and Elder Scrolls should have happened years ago. It’s good to see further investment in Doom and Wolfenstein though. And new investment in Quake.

Great choice imo

So no more Indiana Jones?

This reset was so badly needed. XBOX needs to invest and make games people actually want. New IP is virtually dead. Taking 6 years to release a game like South of Midnight that nobody wanted(because no one bothered to play it) proves how backwards the game industry is. When you make games for the vocal minority on Bluesky, you kill your company. It’s good that XBOX finally woke up.

I wonder if they have Obsidian focusing on Fallout next

Thank god. The world needs another Wolfenstein. Badly.

I never really got into Wolfenstein and Quake. I played maybe one game from each franchise. So I am asking from that perspective. Why is having Quake and / or Wolfenstein good news compared to improving and expanding upon Starfield or doing IP’s like Indiana Jones? I always saw them as just another iteration of Doom. Again, never really got into them so interested to hear from the rest of the player base why this is good news.

Is Starfield dead?
I thought a sequel had a lot of potential.

I don’t think there’s nothing wrong with smaller AA games from said studios. The problem comes in when they’re over budget, and taking 7 year to develop and get it into gamer’s hands. If with knowledge of an engine and better oversight, a AAA and then a AA rotation would work. The other x-factor is these titles have to be successful.
But at least it sounds like XBOX has direction.

Well I like ALL of those games!

I mean, this makes sense. I can’t really see the devs at iD and MachineGames really being able to help on Elder Scrolls or Fallout, outside of helping with the shooting mechanics and it would be a waste to let these classic IP go to waste.
Plus, if they didn’t have confidence I imagine they never would have greenlit the big DLC coming out this month in the first place for Dark Ages or be making a Wolfenstein TV series to go with the third game that is being made.

I like how they kind of casually told everyone Quake is on the table for development
