It had a very limited physical run in the first place I believe.

I don’t know, I wanted to buy it since a year ago but the price really don’t want to drop lol, it’s still a solid 60 euros title here in italy even in the second hand market :/

That was bound to happen. And to those that have a nice collection are sitting on a gold mine. Prices are going to skkyyy rocket

Limited physical run. But it’s useless, most of the game isn’t even on the disc.

Cool story. There are always 3rd party sellers with ridiculous prices. The first 10 google results are probably regular price.

People never talk about this side of physical games. The part where a game becomes increasingly difficult to find and the sellers jack up the price.

I was in CeX (second hand store in the UK) and talking to the guys in there, theyve sold loads since the announcement. Its almost as if people are panic buying 😂

It’s from a third party seller, not Best Buy. Plus, as others have said, it had a small printing.

Noticed the same thing. As far as I know it’s because of a pretty limited supply. It is a great game though! Especially if you love Indiana Jones.

jfc how are all these commenters so dumb? Besides the few that said the correct answer of it being a third-party seller just charging what they want.

Microsoft did print runs for a couple of their ps5 ports, but put the bare minimum amount of effort into manufacturing and distribution.
Indy has a laughable 10 gig of redundant data on the disc. For a game that clocks in at 130 gig.
If you’re desperate for a disc copy, they’re still around, though many stores worldwide seem to have cleared them out a while back.
Your seller on Amazon is basically a third party scalper. Driving up the price in a cruel way. Don’t give into people like that.
The actual game itself is spectacular though. Absolutely play it.

No idea. It’s not even a real physical copy, there’s only 20 GB on the disc. I voted with my wallet and waited for the Premium Edition to drop down to 35 EUR on PC.

This is the side of the physical gaming market that you won’t hear much about at this time from the good balls blowing their brains out all over Reddit because of Sony’s announcement.
Scarcity breeds demand, which in turn has a good chance of increasing price. Yes, there will be instances where less desirable games, or games that got huge production runs are available for cheap. But those same games digitally get within $5 of the cheapest physical sale, on average.
BUT, there are plenty of examples of games being out of print (as physical storage space is limited) and being driven upward in price, where the only option for consumers to purchase a game is the inflated price.
In an all digital marketplace, this cannot happen. Sure, a game can be delisted. But that is such a rare occurrence, that it practically should be a non-issue, and in many ways, reveals the disingenuous nature of this topic.

Sadly, like Walmart, Best Buy has allowed 3rd party people/companies to sell stuff on their site/app. This is someone trying to get more money since the game is out of print.
But it hasnt gone up on price as of yet due to any rarity except on Switch 2 since that is out of print AND had only a relatively small batch made.
