I can get one for cheap and its sole purpose is to play the og games. Do these consoles die easily? Anything to worry about with those models?

If you want to do it for the novelty then sure, but the OG versions of the Halo games are also all playable on the current gen consoles
It’s a good way to play but you won’t be able to play the original releases of Halo 1 and 2, instead you will need an OG Xbox or an Xbox 360 to play them.
Generally the OG Xbox Ones are robust machines. I have a very early launch unit that still works fine. Made roughly 2 months before launch
MCC is the way. It’s phenomenal
