The build quality feels more premium than they xl model i think but the bigger screen cant be beat

Cheaper to replace if its broken or stolen. By far the cheapest model secondhand and the Japanese consoles are cheaper and near mint.

This is my preferred one for my EDC.

    3. It was MUCH cheaper on any of the sites I surfed. I also have smaller hands so the size doesn’t really bother me much.

    4. – more premium build
      – tighter hinge
      – higher pixel density/sharper
      – more portable

But boy is it hard to go back to a non-“new” model without stable 3D.

      Screen sharpness.

The resolution is the same in both but the XL has a bigger screen so you see the pixels way more than in the smaller one

This+the portability actually made go from a XL to the OG

Also the build quality is better

You can still buy official Nintendo batteries (from
Nintendo). They are CTR-003 batteries, and that’s what’s used in the Switch Pro controller, so they still sell them.

All other consoles in the 3DS range will require 3rd party batteries (which are kinda shit compared to OG Nintendo batteries).

      So, another bonus point 👍🏼

Telescopic Stylus. Iirc the 3DS XL uses a regular one.

Also, I think the XL models don’t fit the charging plate that OG 3DSes come with. Which is a neat thing, but definitely not necessary.

i like all the fun blue-hued colors this one comes in. from cyan, blue, purppe, pink, white

    9. I know I said pixel density is better before, but I was only playing Tomodachi Life and Style Savvy on it recently. Both didn’t need much reading.

I tried playing Spirit of Justice on it and my weakening eyesight was NOT happy. The text was so small, i was starting to strain my eyes and it was starting to get worse. Had to move back to my new xl to continue playing.

Most probably not a problem with young or healthy eyes, but just something to consider if you’re trying to get one.

The pixel density makes the image looks just right, except for DS games those had lower density so they have better fidelity in an XL model.

    11. Cheaper, sharper screen, better build quality.
      The 3DS XL hinge sucks.

      I think it looks neat

I second the build quality on OG 3DS – I just got the NEW 3DS XL – it’s lovely, but feels very ‘plastic’

It is way more comfortable, to be honest. Holding the XL for extended periods of time hurts my hands. I have the OG and I prefer playing with it

    14. The benefit is I have one from release and its preventing me from spending 350 on an XL.

    15. Compared to the original xl? The xl feels cheap, the smaller display has a higher ppi, the stylus is bigger when fully erect and ofc it’s cheaper. I have all 3dses but the og is my daily
