Nothing to prove. You don’t own licensed content and never have.

Well then, if buying is not owning, pirating is not stealing.

It says so in their terms and conditions?

We *know* this. That’s not the issue at play here and they’re too focused on the wrong part of the argument to realize.

Slightly misleading headline.
Sony want to show that they are telling you upfront that itâs a revocable license purchase, not a permanent purchase.
Which anyone with half a brain would know by reading the TOS or terms of the product theyâre spending money on.
Sonyâs biggest hurdle here, will be the army of mindless idiots that donât read the conditions

Well, you can either criticize it unnecessarily, or make the system more user-friendly. But Sony is unfortunately quite stupid, and I think that will backfire on them eventually.

They’ve already proven you shouldn’t buy any more Sony consoles. Spent last gen dunking on Xbox for exactly the same reason and then became the same thingÂ

ShitâŚso if buying isnât owning then pirating technically isnât stealing?
If people want to pirate games so the big billion dollar companyâs donât get any money then thatâs not bad right?
If we donât own our digital games then why should we purchase and keep feeding the system that is harming us? They really should understand they are biting the hand that is feeding them.

I understand that when we âbuyâ a fully digital copy of anything (video games, e-books, movies, shows, etc), we are not really owning the digital version. Itâs an unlimited long-term rental and our access to it can be revoked at any time.
Where I think the lawsuit has merit is its argument. It doesnât say âweâre buyingâ, because weâre not, but it says âSony is misleadingâ. And yes, that is correct. By labeling long-term rentals as a purchase or a buy, theyâre misleading their customers into believing that they actually own the content, whereas they donât.
Itâs not just Sony that is guilty of this practice. Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, and all others that lease any kind of digital media for the long term should alter their naming practices and stop misleading people.

We already know this. Going to court to prove the point just makes you look worse than you already do.

Why the fuck do they even care? If they take someone’s licenses away or revoke them on mass for certain games it’s not like someone will buy them again later?
