It's very likely that this game failing is what caused Nintendo to start lowering the prices of some of their games. Games Like Yoshi, Star Fox, and Ocarina of Time would be full price if this game didn't flop as hard as it did.

As someone who bought it: it is not worth $70. Luckily, I got it for $40 on launch, and I can say it gave me enough fun to justify that price. And the free update from July was a nice bonus, especially adding GameShare to it.

It’s honestly still a little sad that this was the big new game of Mario’s 40th anniversary.

It was a good game yes….but it’s just sad that was the big new mario game.

    3. the amount of reused assets from Aces, a game that reused assets from Ultra Smash, is wild

    4. Outside of the price, the main reason this game didnt do well was because not many people wanted another Mario Tennis game. Nintendo made new Mario Tennis, Strikers, and Golf on the og switch. You know what sport we didnt get? Baseball. It has been almost 20 years since the last Mario baseball, and I cant help but feel like Baseball would have been far more exciting to see given that fact.

    5. This game is a blast for local / online multiplayer. Just as much fun as Mario kart imo. Chaotic party game.

It’s worth it if you play a lot with family & friends. At this point tho it’s pretty easy to get it for around $50.
